THE CONFERENCE ON SENSITIVE SKINS WAS HELD

June 5th, 2018. The Beauty Cluster Barcelona (BCB) organized the “Research and challenges in sensitive skin” conference with more than 100 attendees of technical profiles and specialists in the sector. Several entities such as Quimibios, ACCIÓ, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, Eurofins, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, imFarmacias, MartiDerm, Quirónsalud Barcelona, Rahn, as well as the University of Barcelona and the Carlos III University of Madrid.

During the session, we analyzed the status of scientific publications on sensitive skin published, which highlighted that a deterioration in the protective barrier of the skin or a genetic predisposition, can lead to the development of sensitive skin. Likewise, it was contextualized how the abnormal activation of sensory receptors of the family of TRPV proteins can give rise to the development of this syndrome and in what way the cosmetic sector offers specific solutions adapted to all these investigations.

Finally, the meeting also presented in vitro strategies to detect contact allergens, the impact of 3D skin printing at the cosmetic level and finally, the objective tests to validate product claims aimed at sensitive skin .

The session was closed with a round table that focused on the need to carry out more research, not only at a basic level, which allows defining mechanisms at the molecular level that cause the development of the sensitive skin syndrome.
